Dear Doethy...

Up for Adoption: Dear Doethy

Doethy doesn't remember her mother well. The story goes that one day her mother disappeared into the woods and when she came back many days later she was pregnant with Doethy. No one knows what really happened in the woods, but everyone has their own theories.

When Doethy was born her mother dropped her in surprise. Being quick on her feet Doethy was able to dart away.

She was able to escape her fate and spend the next few years darting from dangers, and relying on the kindness of eccentric hermits and half-blind old grannies who couldn't quite see her clearly enough.

One day, Leroy the caretaker happened upon a child with a mouthful of leaves just off the beaten path from the orphanage. She noticed that he wasn't blind...or crazy, he merely smiled. He came back three days in the row, earning her trust and smiling at Doethy like an old friend. Doethy was smitten with this man who fed her leaves and spoke to her like a father. She agreed to come back to the orphanage with Leroy (who was relieved not to have to use his orphan-catchin' sack.)

Currently Doethy has found a place among the children and other small living things of Mrs. Blathersby's. She doesn't eat much in the way of normal food and is content to spend her days with Leroy trimming the trees and bushes on the old mansion grounds.

If you are interested in taking our little dear home, we recommend a large fenced in yard.
